TRIUMF
Is Canada’s national laboratory for nuclear and particle physics research and related sciences. It is a Canadian success story located on the campus of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. It is staffed by dedicated people who can provide the scientific, engineering, and administrative support necessary to meet the challenges of its broad experimental program.
TRIUMF Is owned and operated as a joint venture by a consortium of universities. Operations are supported by the Government of Canada via a contribution through the National Research Council. The Government of British Columbia provides additional support for building infrastructure.
TRIUMF Serves the Canadian particle and nuclear physics, molecular and materials science, and nuclear-medicine communities with world-leading facilities. TRIUMF also provides scientific and engineering leadership and support for the Canadian community to be valued partners at high-profile scientific experiments in other leading laboratories around the world.
TRIUMF Is at the vanguard of scientific innovation and discovery and is committed to transferring advanced technical developments and skills to the Canadian commercial sector.
Is a natural magnet for young minds (and the not so young). Numerous programs, designed specifically for young people, students, teachers, and the general public, ensure that as many as possible benefit from the scientific program and excitement that exists within Canada’s premier national laboratory.
TRIUMF Has a staff of 350 scientists, engineers, and technicians, and a further 150 postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and co-op students, thereby training the next generation of leaders.
TRIUMF Has formulated a plan for its activities to the year 2015. TRIUMF’s Five Year Plan 2010-2015 is an innovative and ambitious plan that will ensure Canada remains scientifically and economically competitive in the 21 st century.
