He introduced in selected Quebec sawmills the proper equipment intended to pack dried shavings and sawdust. Then, he developed an efficient distribution network for his Top-Bedding brand. With time, as he noticed that the product coming out of the mills did not always satisfy its clients' needs, he decided to redirect the company’s activities towards manufacturing by bagging premium quality wood shavings. Lareau then set up the Berthier-Sur-Mer plant, a facility intended to receive, sort and bag sawmill byproducts for distribution throughout North America. As the reputation of Top-Bedding wood shavings grew, the transportation fleet was increased to provide the best possible distribution service. Five decades of innovation and development have produced high quality Top-Bedding products as well as premium services. Lareau’s family has continued the legacy of success and excellence, maintaining Top-Bedding as the industry’s top brand. Today, Groupe Frank Lareau inc. produces and distributes each year more than 6, 500, 000 bags of wood shavings. The construction of a large plant, equipped with a state-of-the-art packing technology, and the acquisition of the Réal Hébert inc. company, established in Wickham since 1966, allowed the group to increase its capacity by more than 50% while increasing the quality and diversity of its Top Bedding products.
