The Peel Postpartum Mood Disorder Program, Mississauga, ON

The Peel PMD Steering Committee is working toward the day that families in Peel who are at risk for or experiencing PMD will have access to comprehensive and sustainable services. The program aims to build the community’s capacity to respond to families by:
• Raising awareness of PMD in the community
• Decreasing stigma often experienced by families living with PMD
• Educating service providers so that they can help support families
• Enhancing services and accessibility for Peel Region’s diverse
community
• Advocating for sustainable funding
Created in 2007, The Peel Postpartum Mood Disorder Program aims to build the community’s capacity to respond to families at risk for or experiencing postpartum mood disorder (PMD).
Many women experiencing PMD don’t receive the support they need as it often goes undetected and undiagnosed. Service providers play a key role in recognizing the symptoms of PMD and referring families to the appropriate resources.
