The Berkeley, Dartmouth, NS

The Berkeley Halifax was the first retirement residence in Halifax, opening its doors on Green Street in September 1990. Since then, the business has grown to include a total of four buildings in HRM. Each building boasts the character of its community, and the social calendar reflects the interests of the residents. Though each building is unique, they are all within walking distance of important amenities such as grocery stores, pharmacies and doctors’ offices. In 2015, we celebrated our 25th anniversary. We look forward to the future with anticipation and enthusiasm!
The Berkeley prides itself on being an intimate, welcoming community for seniors. We believe in working together to deliver excellent customer service, employee satisfaction and, most importantly, a positive environment for both residents and staff. We recognize that people are the most important aspect of our business.
We make an effort to give back to our community in a number of ways – making donations to a variety of charities, and partnering with businesses and organizations to create mutually beneficial connections.
We have entered teams in fundraisers such as Canadian Breast Cancer’s Run for the Cure and the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia’s Walk for Memories for the last several years, raising thousands of dollars for both causes. In 2014, we joined the final Bust a Move event helping to raise money for the new Breast Health Centre at the IWK. As a team of 12, and with the help and support of all Berkeley employees, we raised almost $16, 000! Helping others in our community brings our team together in a way that is positive for everyone.
We also partner with a variety of organizations covering everything from health research and social enrichment to culture and education in our community.
