It’s amazing what medical science can do these days. New miracles seem to occur almost every day. We’ve grown used to thinking that whatever illness we face, medical science can cure us. Sadly, that’s just not true. For many of us there will come a time when our condition cannot be cured. What happens then?
Then the focus shifts from cure to care — care that will help you or your loved one manage your pain and other symptoms; care which is compassionate and sensitive to you and your loved ones’ needs. Palliative care.
The Temmy Latner Centre believes everyone has the right to die with dignity: in the place of their choosing, surrounded by those they love. We provide care and support to people who are dying and their families, and we will do our best to ensure that you or your loved one can die at home if that is your wish.
We also believe everyone has the right to quality of life, even when they are dying. We will work with you and your existing health-care team so that you can make the most of the time you have left to you. We can also help your family and loved ones by providing much-needed support.
Our commitment to you is that you will not be abandoned. One of our doctors will always be available to you, at any time of day or night, every day of the week.
