James Sylvestre Enterprises is a family business and an Essex County institution. Since 1968 JSE has built 1216 pole barns and pre-engineered steel buildings in this area. My father started this business, and I grew up, from age 11 on, helping him build barns. I learned the skills and the craft from an early age, but more importantly I learned the right attitude: My name was going on the building, so it had to be built right. That attitude is why we use better grades of wood, better galvanized nails, extra bracing, thicker siding, better post protection, and why we have our own drafting and engineering departments that handle the permitting for you.
