Bertrand Rioux often said, “Gaspésie is a country!” and spoke eloquently of the riches and development potential of the place in which he was born. His dreams were eventually realized over the years, starting with the creation of a hotel chain that would be authentically Gaspesian. Bertrand Rioux remains today one of the truly great builders of Gaspésie. His drive and determination were contagious. François B. Rioux, Bertrand’s son, had been his close collaborator and eventually became the head of Groupe Bertrand Rioux, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2008.
