The Tried and True Industry Leader in Marine Products P&E Manufacturing was established in 1988 as a local welding, machining and metal fabrication shop. In 1995, P&E started manufacturing access hatches for commercial fishing boats, due to local demand and our strong ties with the local boatbuilders. Seeing their success and their great feedback on our products, we then created our marine division, Anchor Hatches and started selling our products worldwide. We’ve since added grab rails, seat posts, rudders, shafts, propeller nuts, and Coast Guard certified fuel tanks and hydraulic tanks to our lineup. Our second hatch design “Quick Release” followed shortly after. Our New Brunswick, Canada and Calais, Maine warehouses carry lots of inventory, allowing for fast and efficient delivery of local and international clients. Our distribution channel is handled by select dealers (which are boat builders or boating supply retailers). One value that remains with P&E Manufacturing is our flexibility to do custom work. Outside from our standard sizes, we do offer custom hatch, grab rails and bow rails to clients. We also have the ability of machining their logo on the product they purchase (min. qty’s required). Having a very flexible workforce, we are also willing to work with potential suppliers and are able to re-tool our machines to try new things (wet exhaust flange, ladders, radar mounts, locking access doors are some recent examples) . Up to now, commercial fishermen have been the primary target market of our products. Lately, we have taken the extra step and had some hatches powder coated to be more appealing to the pleasure boat / yacht / sailboat market. We are able to work with other companies to have some hatches coated with synthetic teak material. Recently, we’ve had some hatches and grab rails coated with a polyurethane non-slip coating (truck bed liner material) and revealed at an industry trade show with superb feedback.
