I regret hiring this builder. After taking possession, more and more deficiencies and incompletions came to light. The litany of problems was not acknowledged for months, even after repeated e-mails. It took the report of an independent building inspector, hired at my expense, and an angry confrontation with the builder to begin some remedial work. The building inspector’s report was very lengthy, and took one entire day on site and a second day to compile. His thoroughness was a stark contrast to that of the builder. Many items mentioned were obvious incompletions of routine work, and should have been caught by the builder prior to possession date. With my three previous new homes, I have never before felt the need for a post-occupancy independent building inspection. I still am missing screens for the patio doors and some windows 35 months after occupancy!. I have yet to hear a single note of contrition from the builder. I have had four houses built in my life. This builder would rank in last place out of four, and not by a slim margin. I would advise any potential customer to have their own lawyer review the builder’s contract, or at least suggest clauses for the protection of the buyer, such as a holdback subject to satisfactory completion. There are good reasons that this builder is not included in alit of approved builders by the BBB. Without a home warranty insurance it is risky to rely on this builders statements of good intentions. once he has your money, the execution of your house leaves a lot to be desired. I have spoken to several home owners who all have their stories of grief and woe to add to mine.
