The mandate of the Burridge Campus includes the offering of certificate, diploma, and advanced diploma programs. Graduates of the College are competent and prepared to fill a wide variety of entry-level occupations relevant to the current needs of business, industry, and the professions. In addition, emphasis is placed on part-time learning opportunities for those requiring retraining when returning to the work force or changing careers.
The College serves a vital role in Nova Scotia’s long-standing commitment to education and is characterized by a flexibility, which allows it to carry out its mandate to prepare young adults and workers for the ever-changing needs of a developing economy. The Campus, located in Yarmouth, is named after Dr. George A. Burridge, first Principal of the Yarmouth Vocational School, the original public vocational training school in Nova Scotia. First located in downtown Yarmouth (1948-1969) and then in 1970 relocated to its new home on the northern fringe of Yarmouth town. Burridge Campus has been meeting educational and training needs of Nova Scotians for nearly half a century. The 19 full-time programs available at the Campus offer a broad range of training alternatives in the areas of academic upgrading, apprentice able trades, business, hospitality, health and human services, technologies, and information technology.
