Description
Laurel Creek Nature Centre is an attractive modern building with two classrooms and a large auditorium. The Nature Centre was built in 1977 and expanded in 1990 with financial assistance from the Grand River Conservation Foundation.
The Laurel Creek stream runs through the 47-hectare (120-acre) property, which includes mature woods, wetlands and open fields. The stream and pond on the property provide ideal sites for water studies. Because of the diversity of habitats Laurel Creek is a favourite spot for birders. The property is adjacent to the 600 acre Laurel Creek Conservation Area.

A long-term partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board and the Waterloo Catholic District School Board enables school classes to take part in environmental education at the centre throughout the school year. In addition, a new School Outreach program is available to all watershed school boards.
Bring your family and join us at Laurel Creek for our fun and educational family programs, or sign your kids up for our very popular March Break and summer environmental day camps. We also offer unique environmental birthday parties! Community groups, such a Scouts, Guides or groups looking for a natural experience, will want to check out our special group programs.
Laurel Creek Nature Centre is located at the northwest corner of the City of Waterloo. From the north and east it can be reached from Conestoga Expressway (Highway 85) by exiting west onto Northfield Drive. Continue on Northfield eventually following the curve around to the stop sign at Bearinger Road. Turn right onto Bearinger Rd. Take the next right onto Laurelwood Drive. From there, turn right onto Beaver Creek Road. The driveway is on the left.
