The previous owner provided excellent price and quality for many years, but the new owner has been a disaster. His incompetence and irresponsibility cost me almost $5,000. Here’s my story: When I had my oil changed, the mechanic noticed that the bottom of the engine was a little wet and advised me to get it checked. I went to the new owner and after the first inspection he told me that the rear seal needed to be replaced. I paid $900 plus $165 for the rear oil seal, which I bought from a Ford dealership. I didn’t ask for a discount; I just wanted good service. After four days (instead of the promised two), I picked up my car, only to find it leaking oil. There was an oil puddle in my parking spot and traces of oil behind my car. Prior to this repair, my parking space was spotless. I returned the car to the mechanics and asked them to fix it. After another two days, I picked up my car, but the situation had worsened. The oil tank was almost empty after two days. I decided not to trust the new mechanic anymore and took my car to a Ford dealership instead. The dealership fixed the car properly for $3,300 CAD. The dealership mechanics there told me that the previous new rear seal was badly damaged, which caused the leak. The new owner hadn’t even mentioned that he had broken the rear seal, which could have potentially led to engine failure. In the end, based on professional opinions, I highly doubt that replacing the rear seal was ever necessary. It seems I spent 4.5 grand for nothing. I strongly advise against getting serviced by the new owner. Stay away from these dishonest mechanics.
