Kiwanis Senior Homes has been successfully providing affordable seniors housing in North Vancouver for over 70 years. It is a non-profit company operated by a board of directors and a team of professional, caring employees. Kiwanis Senior Homes continues to be the primary provider of affordable independent seniors housing in North Vancouver. The original “Kiwanis Village” was a group of wartime houses purchased in the late 1940’s. This was followed by “The Apartments” which were built in the 50’s and 60’s on 1st Avenue. These units were subsequently phased out and replaced by the current buildings. Today, Kiwanis manages a total of 358 apartments in four buildings. Our first priority is the comfort, safety and well-being of our residents. Building supervisors are available to respond to resident concerns at each building and hold regular “resident meetings” to encourage open communication. They also ensure that our buildings are clean and well maintained. Environmental and financial sustainability are key components of our management philosophy. Kiwanis is continually searching for opportunities to reduce energy consumption and encourage the residents to participate in recycling programs. Many of these programs enable Kiwanis to reduce operating costs and maintain affordable rents for seniors.
