In 1926, Terry Keyes’ grandfather, Joseph Keyes, opened Keyes Real Estate & Insurance Ltd. in Gananoque, Ontario. His business was built on a foundation of customer service and knowing his customers and their needs. After completing a Bachelor of Commerce at Saint Mary’s University here in Halifax, Terry established Keyes Insurance Brokerage Ltd. in 1980. His objective was to provide Nova Scotians with friendly, knowledgeable service and quality products. With his rating manuals in hand, Terry began the long process of building his agency one customer at a time. Shaun’s knowledge of the insurance industry has been bred into him, as he is now the 4th generation of Keyes to be involved in the business. In 2013, Shaun was named President of the Company, and he oversees all aspects of the business. The two-person operation has expanded to a staff of eleven. While the business has expanded substantially, the focus on our customers has remained the same.
