IPOANS is an organization dedicated to representing the interests of private residential property owners/managers and developers in the province and providing members with services of substantial benefit. IPOANS is focused on legislative lobbying and advocacy work and has established itself as the “voice” of rental property owners in Nova Scotia . IPOANS Mission: To protect, enhance and contribute to the ability of rental housing owners and operators to profit from their investments. To ensure equity in all levels of legislation. To provide educational programs for members, to promote industry awareness, heighten professionalism and increase competence. To serve as an information centre for the apartment industry. IPOANS has come to be recognized by government, the news media and the public at large as a responsible, credible representative in matters affecting residential rental property in the province. The Association has developed working committees to deal with issues of Municipal and Provincial concerns. Active committees include the Residential Tenancies Act, Halifax Water, Solid Waste Management, Member Supplier Program, Landlord Licensing, IPOANS Certified Apartment Management Program to name a few. IPOANS has established communications with various government departments. When changes are being considered to Acts, such as the Residential Tenancy Act, IPOANS is invited to have input before changes are proposed. The discussion papers are circulated throughout our membership which has expertise in these areas. The feedback ensures our industry concerns are heard.
