Harmony Acres Campground, Tobermory, ON

TOO EXPENSIVE! We’ve paid $50 per night plus $10 administration fee for one of the worst sites on this campground. Muddy and too small. Because the campground is right beside the highway it is extremely noisy. One shower area is clean and updated. The other shower area is old and inconventient. There are several mobile toilets on the campground near some of the sites. These mobile toilets doesn’t smell like roses. And on top of that the owners are asking money for almost everything! A few days before we arrived we asked to extend our stay with one more night: + another $10 administration fee. Cost for showers: $2 for 4 minutes. If they do 4 minutes… Cost for Wifi: $2 per day for checking emails only. The staff will enter the code in your cell phone…. You even have to pay if you want to recharge your cell phone. Tip: choose another campground!

It is NO surprise that I read other campers had a terrible experience at Harmony Acres. We drove to the campground the day before, asking to reserve a cabin for one night. The woman at the desk was very pleasant, took our reservation and charged us one night for the cabin for the next night. Over the night, my 3 yo son got very ill with high fever and other severe signs & symptoms, and we had to see a doctor and get home immediately. When I called that morning to cancel, the woman said, "Did they tell you about the cancellation policy?". I replied no and said we had made the reservation within the 24 hours. I asked if we could cancel and she said yes and we would see our refund within a few days. She said nothing about a paying the cancellation fee. Within a few days, the credit was posted and she charged us an approximately 30% cancellation fee! That is not a lot of money, however, she lied to us about it and went ahead and charged us. I have real problem with unethical and dishonest business people. I will share this with EVERYONE I know and on every social media platform I frequent. DISHONEST OWNERS!

My daughter and I spent the last 6 nights at this camp ground. I must tell you, the sites I have been too in the past compare nothing to this place. I was looking for a nice quite place to take my daughter for the week. This was the place. We get there and we are greeted by Haylea. She welcomes us in and provides us with a wealth of information on what to do and where to go while up there for the week. Get to our site (in a secluded quite area of the ground) and I must say, it was so clean. Not a cigarette butt, bottle cap, beer can etc... laying around the whole ground. It was really nice to see a place that prides itself on making sure things are clean and in order. It was a nice distance in between the sites (we had 40ft on one side and 25ft on the other side) hard wood between the sites.Bathrooms (2 of them) were located on the grounds. The ones by our site (new build) had 2 toilets and a family toilet. The shower house had 2 shower stalls and 2 sinks in both the men and women side. They would try and clean the bathrooms 2-3 times a day (Which was a real treat :D ). It was a shame for a night they had some real inconsiderate campers that left them a mess (bathrooms) but low and behold they were clean that afternoon. They also provided you with a dishwashing station to use as well. That too was a real treat. There was tap for portable drinking water. If you are from the city you know that drinking tap water is not that great, but this was actually a pleasure to drink. They came around and picked up the garbage from the sites each night and then they did a walk through to all the sites to check in on everyone (that was nice as it made it personable) They were nice to offer to charge your electronics in their house (which both my daughter and I used a lot with our camera batteries.) They did sell firewood onsite for 6 dollars a bundle of hardwood. It provided around a 2hr burn time. Had to cut my trip short by a day and they were glad to refund my money (another nice thing they went and did.). I will be back again in the future. She has done an amazing job with the place. My daughter and I felt welcome and treated like family. Next visit we will be bringing my wife as well as so she can experience the great hospitality that Harmony Acres has provided and extended to our family.

My family and friends have camped here numerous times throughout the years and I have never been disappointed. Everything is meticulously maintained (I'm not a germophobe but I like a clean washroom and consistently hot showers). Management is super friendly and has always been welcomed to come sit by the fire and chat with our group (Some seriously funny stories to tell). Rules and regs are strictly enforced so there are no worries of nasty camping experiences due to excessively loud/fighting/drunken campers. If you abide by the golden rules of camping (leave it as you found it, have fun but be respectfull...etc) This is the campground for you. Wood is about $6 a bundle but is mostly comprised of hardwood so a bag lasts quite a while. When planning a trip to the "TUB" I can't imagine camping anywhere else.
