The GVGRC is dedicated to model railroading in the garden. Our membership spans a very diverse cross section of enthusiasts from those who find relaxation and enjoyment in "armchair railroading", to those who have taken on the tasks of building and managing their own "mini" backyard empires.
We welcome all members to participate in as many Club activities as they can, to further the hobby of model railroading and share in the fellowship of a club of like minded souls.
Activities of the club are coordinated by the Executive and with few exceptions all labor and materials for club related activities are provided by volunteers and through donations from local suppliers.

The Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club was established in 1994, when Bob McDiarmid put a listing for The Greater Vancouver Garden Railway Club in a Garden Railway magazine, and asked if anyone with the same interests in the hobby of garden railroading would like to meet. Hence the beginning and in 2007, the first Executive was formed. Now the membership is over 200 members.
The objective of this group is to meet at members homes to view and operate their layout. The member's enjoy helping each other and assisting with designing, consulting and in the labour of building the railway and structures.
New friendships, camaraderie, social events and assistance with all things pertaining to garden railways are just a small part of the Club's activities. We are also striving to arrange training and seminar information for the members to attend and grow in the hobby.
The Club's modular layout allows us to display the trains in public locations for all to enjoy.
The Club layout is located at Art Knapp's Plantland at 4391 King George Highway in Surrey, BC. The members get together several times a year for maintenance to the grounds and track. Members can run their trains on this layout at any time and trains can be seen on the tracks on most weekends during the summer months.
Throughout the warmer months you can find some of us at the Club's layout at Art Knapp's in Surrey, perhaps running some trains or doing a bit of maintenance work, or just talking to other members about garden railroads.
