Retail holdings under management range from strip plazas to multi-tenanted enclosed shopping malls. Changing With The Times From the original family properties, EIWO built up a substantial portfolio of apartment units in the early 1970s. When rent controls tipped the playing field in 1976, EIWO adapted quickly and shifted its portfolio to focus on commercial real estate. By the early 1990s, EIWO was managing approximately 2, 000 residential apartment units in high- and low-rise buildings as well as a portfolio of office/retail and industrial properties. Although the economic downturn of 1992-95 spelled selloffs and even failure for many management companies, EIWO maintained its full portfolio and even achieved growth through those difficult times. Expanding Markets EIWO expanded operations into the Hamilton area in 2001 and now manages properties in Toronto, Burlington, Mississauga, St. Catharines and Oshawa as well. This expansion included adding a new condominium division.
