Edgecombe is a Canadian firm that has provided property and asset management services for over 40 years to large pension funds and other institutional investors. Edgecombe is owned by two partners, who manage the operations on a day-to-day basis. Edgecombe has a network of 40 specialists managing more than 1 million square feet of commercial and retail space in more than 20 locations across Canada. The structure of Edgecombe, which is privately owned, allows the company to respond to client needs swiftly with minimum bureaucratic interference, while ensuring the highest controls are in place in order to safeguard our clients’ assets. This gives Edgecombe an edge in flexibility and ability to tailor our services to meet the clients’ specific needs. History Edgecombe was formed in 1970 as a department of North American Life Assurance Company to handle the management of investments in mortgages and real estate. Throughout the 1970s and ‘80s, Edgecombe evolved and grew into a full-fledged professional real estate company, responsible for all facets of real estate management and consulting not only on behalf of its parent company, but also supplying services to third parties. The ‘90s brought further change, with North American divesting itself of the Edgecombe Group of companies. David Jubb - Vice President of Edgecombe at that time - and Susan McGowan, acquired the asset management operations and the rights to the Edgecombe name and continued managing the portfolio of real estate assets on behalf of third party pension funds. Client demand and needs promoted further growth in the early 2000s with the creation of a related company providing property management services. Edgecombe’s asset management operations now employ four professionals, with the property management operations employing over 40 professionals from property managers to maintenance staff.
