Dr. Sonja Hagemann, Calgary, AB

Terrible customer service on top of a lack of professionalism led me to file a formal complaint against Dr. Sonja Hagemann. I went to get an eye exam done on June 10, 2021. Even though she charges more than most optometrists, she still asked me to come back and have my pupils dilated for an additional charge. She said it was optional, but recommended. It was a weird request since I've never had to have this done before (my eyes are generally fine) but trusted that she knew what she was doing. I took the afternoon off from weekend family time and arranged for someone to drive me on June 26. On my way to the optometrist's office the receptionist called to say that since I was a few minutes late they may not be able to see me after all, but that I should still bring my kids in to buy their glasses. Upon arrival I told them that due to the poor customer service I would not be buying glasses. They retaliated by saying that they would not see me for my appointment or give me my prescription from the first appointment. It was pretty clear at that point that this was all about money and the pupil dilation was never necessary. I stood outside the office for a half hour insisting that they provide the prescription and they kept saying that they wouldn't unless I came back and paid for the (at this point obviously unnecessary) pupil dilation. I finally got the prescription but the optometrist wrote on it that it was "not guaranteed". How can any competent doctor write a prescription that says "not guaranteed"?
