DFH Real Estate Ltd. is owned and operated by Mike Nugent, Kevin Sing and Peter Gaby, who became shareholders in 2008. Mike Nugent is the company’s Managing Director and shares the Broker Manager duties with Susan Dunn. Our four offices, located in Victoria, Sidney, West Shore, and Shawnigan Lake, serve the real estate needs of customers in Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island. Originally known as Saanich Realty, Dominic Hanley changed the name to D.F. Hanley Agencies in 1960. The company’s original location was on Quadra Street near Reynolds Road, but in 1960 it moved to Douglas Street near the corner of Cloverdale. Ten years later a second location was opened on Shakespeare Street and then, in 1976, the two offices merged in a larger location on McKenzie Avenue at Shelbourne Street. Brian Sharp and Jack Clover bought the firm in 1976 and changed the name to DFH Real Estate. In 1985, the head office was built on Shelbourne Street and is still in use today. In addition, DFH Real Estate has offices in Sidney, the Westshore and in the Shawnigan Lake Village. The Westshore office commenced in 1994 at the corner of Jacklin and Sooke roads. In 2005, it moved to its present location on Goldstream Ave. In 1995, John Bruce merged his Realty World operation in Sidney with DFH, and in 1998, Sue Lyle merged her Coldwell Banker operation in Shawnigan Lake. All of these previous owner-operators are still with DFH and are outstanding contributors to its success. Brian Sharp became sole owner from1997 – 2008. He then stepped down from the day-to-day operations but remains on the DFH board of directors. Mike Nugent, Peter Gaby & Kevin Sing became partners in the company in 2008. The strong corporate culture of fair and ethical business practices established by Dominic Hanley and Brian Sharp is actively supported and promoted by the new ownership group.
