I’m Scott Borland, a management consultant who specializes in strategy facilitation. I work primarily with high-potential companies that have great missions. What do you mean by ‘high-potential’ and ‘great missions’? My clients are organizations that have unrealized potential to do bigger things. They’re good now but have the desire and compelling attributes to be so much more. These same ‘high potentials’ are concerned with more than maximizing profit. They’re passionate about pursuing meaningful impact in the communities they serve. For a long time I worked with all kinds of companies in all kinds of industries. More recently though, I’ve focused on these remarkable organizations that want to have bigger impact in the lives of the people they serve. It’s much more satisfying work and I tend to connect really well with the people inside organizations who share this orientation. What exactly is strategy facilitation? In a nutshell, it’s helping groups develop clarity and focus, so that they can move forward, whether that means reaching a goal, completing a project, or just getting “unstuck” as an organization. What I’m really passionate about is helping organizations get clear on who they are, where they’ll ‘play’, how they’ll prosper and what it will take to make this all happen. In essence, I play the role of an orchestra conductor, pulling the various players together to create ‘great music’. Like the conductor, I help people create something bigger and more impactful than they could do on their own. And as a maestro - I also help the players identify and develop the key capabilities that drive successful performance. What kind of results can you expect?
