Cheshire Homes Of Saskatoon

Cheshire Homes is a non-profit charitable organization that provides specialized services to young adults with disabilities. Our mission is to provide an accessible, comfortable home with personal support servies for young adults with physical disabilities. Cheshire Homes has four (4) houses on 4.4 acres of Cheshire Property. They are John Owen House (House 1), Liberty House (House 2), Freedom House (House 3), and Independence House (House 4) . Without the support of the Management, the Board of Directors, and Resident Council, Cheshire Homes would not be able to accept new residents and work to make Cheshire Homes an enjoyable place to live for current residents. Cheshire Homes of Saskatoon is part of a Global Alliance of Leonard Cheshire International, which works with other independent Cheshire partner organizations in 53 countries around the world. The mission of the Alliance is that it exists to change attitudes towards disability around the world and foster mutual support amongst the members. The purpose of the Global Alliance is to share experiences and learn lessons to promote best practice and policy on disability and related issues globally., based in the UK has been the catalyst for the alliance for the past 60 years. Leonard Cheshire Disability was founded by Group Captain Leonard Cheshire who, in 1948 established the first Cheshire Homes for disabled veterans near London England. Cheshire Homes spans across four Canadian Provinces with 18 separate non-profit chartiable organizations with each Society providing various services. Cheshire Homes of Saskatoon's began in 1970 with the help of Dr. and Mrs. John Owen.
