Previously the site of Port Colborne Block, on February 2 1995, the Bylsma family opened the doors of Canal Block. As one of Southern Ontario’s newest concrete masonry producers we pride ourselves on the principles of hard work, dedication and quality that have made our family business a growing success for the past 20 years. Introducing Canal Block’s EZeeFlo Block, our friendlier product as the manufacturing of these blocks with our unique design allows for far less virgin materials to be used than standard concrete masonry units. The staff of Canal Block recognizes the need to reduce impact on the environment, we continually strive to achieve sustainable goals in all areas of operations to reduce waste, recycle, and be as green as possible wherever possible. Further to this goal of going green we also firmly believe in giving back to our community through such efforts as hosting an annual Christmas luncheon at the Welland Mission in lieu of sending Christmas cards. We support community initiatives by hiring many of our entry level staff through community based government programs run by the John Howard Society & Port Cares. We strive to hire students and provide opportunities for learning and obtaining on the job experience through various programs such as the Summer Jobs for Students, and Co-operative Education. Our core team has extensive knowledge and experience in various sectors of the construction industry; including design, install, cleaning and maintaining. Canal Block is an innovative company with dedicated staff who are enthusiastic and all contribute to designing and building the best and most efficient sustainable block on the market.
