Booster Juice, Westbank, BC

Sometime around June 02, 2021, when going in for a smoothie, I asked the West Kelowna Booster Juice store manager why I was subjected to another customer without a mask in very close proximity to me. This occurred twice within minutes. They were the only other customer in the store. Following some obvious gaslighting (“What customer?”) I made it clear I was now an EX-customer and would not be making my intended purchase. In response, this self-professed manager snorted: “Then turn around and get the f%$k out of my store.” Terrible customer experience, non-compliance with posted health regulations and an awful example being set for their other employees. Absolutely atrocious. Then came the amateur-yet-damning obfuscation by this local “manager.” After repeatedly requesting the name and contact number for The manager’s immediate supervisor, she gave me her OWN business card instead of her supervisor’s information. She later denied saying ANY of the things she clearly and unmistakably said to me. I then contacted the corporate office in Edmonton. A subsequent phone call from a “Booster Juice franchise consultant from Vancouver” revealed: “Booster Juice’s corporate policy is to post health regulations on the door of each location but NOT to actually deny service to anyone … mask or not.” They insist this is how they “respect and enforce” the current health regulations. This “consultant” suggested the BC Human Rights Code prevents the denial of service to anyone … no matter what. It seems many other businesses here in BC see things VERY differently … as does the health department. But go on in to Booster Juice without your shoes on folks! Heck … go in naked! No customer turned away! While other local restaurants are hurting badly, Booster Juice talks out of both sides of their face and ONLY runs customers out who question this complete lack of integrity. The Vancouver “franchise consultant” then promised an investigation would be done and I would be advised of the local and corporate outcome within five business days. Not a word. So … back to the corporate website in Edmonton. Another call … this time with someone at corporate. I was advised the “franchise consultant” from Vancouver was “no longer with Booster Juice.” Once again … “An investigation would be done” … now by corporate. It took all of about 45 minutes for that “investigation” and the returned call. Not surprisingly, the West Kelowna Booster Juice store manager would NOT be dismissed and the Corporate Booster Juice policy was still to avoid ALL denials of service to potential paying customers. Clearly, neither this location nor this corporation do not care about your health, BC laws, your safety or your ongoing satisfaction. They profess to be a “community booster” yet they do not want you to know how they conduct themselves. They lied. They obstructed. They placed their customers’ health at risk. Be sure to read other reviews on this location and this corporation. THIS IS A WELL-DOCUMENTED PATTERN OF BEHAVIOUR. Buyer beware. In-person visit with our local health department coming up. I am SO NOT DONE .. but I can sure as heck get a better $10.00 smoothie, a little common decency and some safer health practices someplace else. Awful experience. Will never go back.
