Azucar Restorante and Cantina is a family owned restaurant working hard to bring you the best Latin taste and style Edmonton has to offer. You will find in our menu that we are now serving authentic Peruvian food. It is the only one of its kind to be found in the city of Edmonton and a favourite of the Peruvian community in Alberta. Thanks to its pre-Inca and Inca heritage and to the Spanish, Basque, African, Sino-Cantonese, Japanese and finally Italain, French and British immigrants to Peru (mainly through the 19th century), Peruvian cuisine combines the flavours of four continents and picks up on many Spanish and Latin themes, but separates itself by the unique tastes of Peru’s indigenous peppers. One thing to know about Peruvian food is the importance of “Aji Amarillo” in many classic Peruvian dishes. “Aji” (pronounced “ah hee”) means chili pepper and “Amarillo” means yellow. But although they are named yellow chili peppers, their colour change to orange as they mature and they are one of the most important ingredients in Peruvian cooking as noted in our menu. Our restaurant is located on 13062-50 St in the city of Edmonton and we are open for lunch and dinner from Tuesday to Sunday. We specialize in Peruvian and Mexican cuisine and offer you live entertainment to spice up your nights every Friday and Saturday.
