On Saturday, May 8, 1982, The Atlantic Salmon Museum held its "Sod Turning Ceremony". With support from all levels of government and many volunteers a small group finally was able to see their dream come to life. The Miramichi Historical Society was the driving group for this project and is still a great supporter of the museum. Within the walls of the museum you will be amazed at what you will find. We have on display many of the different types of artificial flies, fly fishing rods from wooden, bamboo to carbon filament, and all the various types of clothing and accessories that were used through the years. We also support the environment of the Miramichi River basin in our work and displays. As a result of a generous donation from Donn H. Byrne, Sr., a long-time supporter and friend of the museum, the Atlantic Salmon Cultural Center has been established to display an extensive collection of artwork. In addition to original paintings and prints, sculptures and salmon fly collections, the Center also maintains a library of literature and journals, including a large collection of rare books on salmon fishing and the river. Mission Statement "To preserve and promote the cultural and economic value of the Atlantic Salmon resource to the Miramichi River and New Brunswick. We also emphasize the importance of conservationso this vaulable resource can be perserved for future generations."00 Subscribing - $25.00 (can bring a friend) 10 year membership $100 - Business - Make a Donation.
