To assist Nova Scotians to improve control over their health by increasing their knowledge, skills and resources for individual and collective action. To provide information on self-help groups, resources and issues, and to refer individuals to the appropriate self-help group, professionals, community resources. To develop projects/programs to meet the health needs of specific health populations; to help individuals set up, lead and maintain self-help groups; to assist professionals in setting up support groups and peer support networks. To conduct research on self-help and mental health issues; to train and mentor mental health consumers in participatory action research initiatives; to evaluate programs and projects of the Self-Help Connection. The Chapter has been granting wishes since 1969. This vast geographic area is the responsibility of our Provincial Office in , with a staff of , backed by a team of dedicated volunteers and a supportive board. Like the rest of the Foundation, we never turn down a wish child. We are able to do this thanks to the generous support of the public, corporate sponsors, planned gifts, donated goods and services and funds raised through special events. Together, we are working to make life better for children all over . Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of three and 17 are diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada is dedicated to granting an exceptional wish to every child. Established in 1984, Children's Wish is a national non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling a favourite wish for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. Since its inception 25 years ago, Children's Wish has granted more than 16,000 wishes for children and their families and fulfills approximately 900 wishes annually -- granting nearly three wishes everyday -- each being an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of that particular child. The foundation has never refused a wish to an eligible child. Children's Wish, a grassroots charity with chapters in every province and territory, relies on the generosity of its donors and volunteers to make certain that no wish is refused. Children's Wish has established itself as one of the most recognized registered charities in Canada and the most recognized organization when it comes to granting wishes for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses.

The Healthy Minds Cooperative is a member owned and democratically controlled not-for-profit enterprise. Its shareholders are people who possess lived experience with mental illness, and/or an interest in the topic of mental health. What is the Healthy Minds Co-op about? The Co-op is about people who have mental illness/mental health issues helping themselves. It is made up of people who are committed to improving mental health in their communities. Many of its members have experience with mental illness or mental health issues, and know there is a need for change in the system and society. HMCo-op provides public education to reduce the stigma of mental illness offers peer support and facilitates connections to community services. The Co-op has identified five areas of priorities, they are: Better access to mental health services. # Public education regarding mental illness. More participation of those with lived experience in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of mental health services. Providing peer-support and advocacy for consumers and their families. Developing better connections to existing community services.

For over 30 years, Solutions Learning Centre has helped adults overcome barriers to employment and expand their horizons. Our strength lies in the commitment we make to program participants. We offer services to adults aged 18-64 who reside in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Individuals may be referred by themselves, a community agency or a professional. To empower our program participants by providing individual life skills and educational programs that improve their employability and quality of life.
