The organization was incorporated as a non-profit association and was established as a foundation by an act of the Alberta legislature. It is also approved as a charitable organization by Revenue Canada. Membership is available to anyone interested in preserving the western heritage through our special collections of library materials and artificats. The "Heritage Voices" project was prepared by volunteer members of the Stockmen's Memorial Foundation during the 1980's in conjunction with the collection of literary materials for the now Bert Sheppard Stockmen's Foundation Library & Archives. It was realized by the Founding Members that many of the "Old Timers" were heading for the Big Sky and the Last Trail and their voices and stories would be lost to future generations. Their reminiscences are a treasure trove for any history buff. These colour videos can be viewed in the Library in comfortable surroundings. Each segment can be from 4 minutes to over one hour. The interviewers are fellow ranchers, friends or family.
