Rogers OMNI Alberta -- CJCO in Calgary and CJEO in Edmonton – represents a significant expansion in the variety of languages, number of hours and choice of programming being offered for ethnocultural communities throughout the province. With more than 75 hours of ethnic programming each week, including locally produced newscasts each weekday for the regional Cantonese, Mandarin and South Asian communities, OMNI Alberta reflects and serves the increasingly diverse population of Calgary and Edmonton in no less than 20 languages. In addition to specializing in Canadian multilingual/multicultural programming, OMNI Alberta features popular sitcoms and dramatic series from the US along with OMNI’s station-wide schedule of Chinese Super Cinema and South Asian Bollywood Freetime Movies. OMNI Television is licensed as a multilingual/multicultural broadcaster. A key condition of our licence is that we must air the majority of programming in a minimum number of languages to no less than a specific number of ethnocultural communities. This is why you will frequently hear us say that OMNI’s programming is both reflective of, and responsive to, the various diverse communities that we serve. Plus, this is why you will see indepth – community -- stories on OMNI that you won’t see elsewhere.
