As a second generation specialty weaver since 1986 Caning Calgary offers breathtaking results in a wide variety of specialty weaving including: Traditional Caning (w/drilled holes): Holes are drilled around the perimeter of chair seat frame and individual strands of cane are hand woven through the series of drilled holes. Cane Webbing, Machine Cane, Pressed Cane, or Sheet Cane: Pre-woven sheet cane is set into a routed out groove on the top side of chair, held in place with a reed spline, no holes drilled in framework. Danish Cord During the 1940’s famous designer Hans Wegner crafted beautiful designs in furniture pioneering the “Danish Modern Era” These very Classic Danish or Scandinavian chairs very often had seat woven out of a 3 ply twisted paper cord about 4/32” commonly called Danish Cord. Another popular maker of these famous Danish Scandinavian chairs was Moller or Mollar. Paper fibre Rush, Seagrass, Rope, Cordage & Binder Cane Chair has material wrapped around the four dowels framing the seat and or back. Available in a variety of patterns.
