To create a community that provides programs, services and an environment which nurture people’s personal and spiritual growth, enabling them to contribute to a healthier world. In 1946, Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI), purchased the McLachlin estate, which was built in the 1800s. The grounds (where Scotsman Archibald McNab’s Kinnell Lodge had once stood) were restored and a new wing was added to the house. It served as the training centre for young men entering the Oblate community. Who Are We? We are missionaries. We began 188 years ago, on January 25, 1816, when Father Eugene de Mazenod and four companions came together to preach missions in Provencal, in the rural countryside of southern France. Currently, How Many Are We? We are 4, 440 Oblates in all. Of this total, 580 are in formation, having already made their first commitment. Hear what our guests are saying...
