Our office is a dental specialty office. This means that after dental school was completed Dr. Dueckman attended a separate 3 year program dedicated exclusively to orthodontics. Our clinical staff have also completed orthodontic training beyond the regular Certified Dental Assistant program. Within the discipline of orthodontics the doctor and clinical staff are required to regularly attend continuing education programs. This helps us to keep current with technological changes and allows us to feel refreshed toward our work. Since Dr. Dueckman is a specialist some patients wonder whether the rates for service at our office are higher than at a general dental office. Surprisingly, the orthodontic market is priced very competitively, especially in the Fraser Valley, and the feedback we get indicates that doctors without the specialty designation charge very similar rates to ours for orthodontic treatment. Another concern people have with respect to a specialty office is that appointment times will not be on time. This feature of all medical offices is greatly affected by the doctor's preferences concerning scheduling. At our office, we prefer to see fewer patients in a day than some tightly scheduled offices. This way we can take enough time with each patient, and we usually run on time.
