Grown with passion and packed with care; we hope that your family enjoys the fruits of our labour. Bergen Farms was established in 1979 by Jake Bergen with only 1.5 acres of raspberries. Since then we have grown to over 400 acres of raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and black currants. Bergen Farms is family owned and operated. Our farms are located in Abbotsford and Qualicum Beach, British Columbia where the climate and conditions are ideal for growing a premium quality fruit. For the last 15 years we have specialized in providing fresh berries to Western Canada. In 2007 we decided to share our berries year round. Enjoy the taste of summer all year long with our signature boxes of 1.8kg raspberries, blueberries, mixed berry blend (blueberries, raspberries and blackberries), and our new signature blend (blueberries, blackberries and black currants). Our frozen berries can be found at select grocery stores in Western Canada. We strive every day to provide a superior home grown fruit product to local consumers. In 2006, the Bergen family started a farm in Qualicum Beach on Vancouver Island. Since then we have planted over 230 acres of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries and black currants. Bos Sod Farms Inc started growing sod in British Columbia in 1993, to service the residential and commercial market with quality sod. The service area includes the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. Our sister farm Bos Sod in located in Coaldale, AB and grows sod for the Southern Alberta & South Western BC market. Bos Sod Farms is owned and operated by Bert and Debbie Bos, who were privileged to win the 2007 Outstanding Young Farmers Award of BC The majority of our sod products are grown on 3mm washed sand, compatible with USGA root zone mixes, including 25 acres of greens sod; bentgrass varieties and Native Poa Annua. Great care is taken to produce a top quality product for the discerning end user. We continually review and improve growing procedures, equipment developments, input products, cultural practices, and keep striving to raise the quality bar. In addition to our greens sod production we grow sod for athletic fields in the coastal regions of BC, WA and OR.

Witloof is known in other parts of the world and languages as: Endive, Belgian Endive, French Endive, Witlof, Witloof Chicory, Chicory, Chicon, and Endivia. The most popular history behind the discovery of Witloof is of a Belgian farmer living near Brussels around 1830 having stored some chicory roots in his cellar, intended to possibly use them later as a coffee substrate. He came to retrieve them at a later time only to discover white shoots coming out of the head of the root due to the climate conditions in the cellar, which he then tried to eat and found edible.
